September 2009 The Alchemy of Transformation
There is a fire burning in your heart. Can you feel it?
Blending the best sparks of tantric yoga, western psychology and the creative process to nourish your inner fire.
Long ago, alchemy was a complex art of refinement; cooking and transforming that which was base metal into gold. It demanded self-mastery as much as secret knowledge. Through their own devotion, the practioner herself was ‘cooked’ and changed, becoming the gold they sought.
The Alchemy of Transformation is a five month immersion geared for the serious student who would like to go deep in their practice and/or create a powerful shift within themselves. Our cauldron will be a blending of the eastern and western sciences of manas, soma and psyche: mind, body and spirit. The fire we light under that cauldron will be fueled by retreats, asana practice, meditation, reading, discussion groups and creative arts practices. The group will be kept small, 20 participants or under, in order to support individualized attention and group cohesiveness.
Application Process
Those interested should fill out a letter of intent. Applicants will participate in a short interview and, if accepted, receive a formal invitation.
Qualifications
To be accepted, a student must demonstrate a history or willingness for adhikhara (studentship), a propensity for self-reflection, and genuine desire to participate. Students of all levels will be considered, but students with at least one year of steady yoga practice by the start of the retreat date and at least six months with Anusara will be given priority. Note that while there is some overlap in the material covered in the classic Anusara Immersion this does NOT follow the same syllabus and therefore appropriate for those who have done an Anusara Immersion. All hours can be counted towards Anusara certification or training.
